Shepherds Down School at Compton, Winchester who we supported with a donation from our social activities in February and April, are holding a Gardening Day on June 7th.

A number of our members assisted, back in November, with helping to restore a Sensory Garden & Woodland Walk for the pupils, who have complex learning needs. More work is needed in particular on the Woodland Walk, so if members are able to 'lend a hand' please contact David Workman or Steve Davenport, for details.

A 'GRAND' time had by all

compton downs school

The freemasons of Wessex Lodge 5297 in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire have raised a £1000 for Shepherds Down School at Compton, Winchester.

The money was raised by a skittles match against their daughter lodge, the Lodge of Chivalry, in February this year, collections at Lodge meetings, and culminated in a well supported quiz night in April, supported by brethren from Rose Window Lodge 7839 & Docendo Discimus Lodge 7818, who entered teams.

The Friends of Shepherds Down Association also entered a team and while they did not win the quiz, they were thrilled to take away a cheque for a Grand.

The cheque for £1000 was presented to FOSDA by the Worshipful Master W.Bro.Brian Phillips.

Shepherds Down is a special school that caters for primary aged pupils with complex learning needs. Use this link to find out more: www.shepherdsdown.co.uk

St Andrews Day Celebration

Piping the Haggis in on St Andrews Day

Wessex Lodge celebrated St. Andrew's Day a little early this year. The celebration, with Haggis and a piper was held after their meeting on November 29th, with ladies, guests and friends present.

The haggis was piped in, the Selkirk Grace given and then the haggis addressed in the traditional manner with the famous Robert Burns poem.

It was a very enjoyable evening which raised £546.00 for the Mountbatten Hospice.
